Gordon Wright Creates a True Art Deco Stained Glass Window

Original art deco stained glass window copyright Gordon Wright 2011

Original art deco window copyright Gordon Wright  2011

Stained glass artist, Gordon Wright, is a perfect example of the excellence and diversity of creativity found at the Williams Mill.

Recently,  Gordon designed and installed this exquisite circular Art Deco stained glass window in the main door of the home theater of a privately owned Ontario Chateau.

This true Art Deco stained glass window  elegantly compliments the art deco furnishings of the room.

The image above is the whole window. To the left is a detail showing the rich and varied texture of the glass. This particular glass is called glass in the close up is vgl 043, but is aptly called "double reeded".

Do you know that Gordon has also designed windows for palaces in Saudi Arabia, churches in Brampton, Mississauga, Oakville, Erin & Toronto, and many corporate  and private commissions, too?

But he will happily create what your heart desires in stained glass for "castles" of any size! Trigger your imagination with more examples of Gordon's stained glass at www.gordonwright.ca or visit Studio 4 at the Williams Mill.

"Gift"ed at the Williams Mill

The holiday season is a busier time than usual for the Williams Mill artists. As well as spending more time in the studio creating magical gifts for you to buy, the artists often have their studios open longer than usual in an effort to accommodate your needs for shopping for that special someone. The artists also participate in Georgetown community seasonal events . You may have seen the Williams Mill truck in the Christmas parade!

As well, you have probably seen many of our crafts people at unique gift shows from The Moose Show in downtown Toronto, to Signatures in Ottawa.

And did you know many of our artists accept commissions? Or have a gift certificate option?  Original art is a thoughtful, unique, as well as beautiful gift. Or, as I always like to say, in reference to my paintings "original art is an instant heirloom". This sentiment applies to any of the original art found at the Mill!

It's probably a little late for some of our artists to produce a custom piece this close to Christmas, but it never hurts to ask. And there is still an an amazing selection of work available now in their studios.

Most studios are open Fridays and Saturdays 12-5 pm. You can contact individual artists through the Williams Mill website.

Gordon Wright window graces the home of Condelezza Rice

GORDON WRIGHT - STUDIO 4 shipped a completed window to California for CONDOLEZZA RICE.
The stained glass is for the front door transom light of Dr. Rice's new home in Palo Alto where she is teaching at Stanford University.
"There were several design options I put forward. In the end Dr. Rice chose the clean simple lines without any colour." said Wright.

Stained Glass from Glen Williams graces California mansion

Gordon Wright has just completed 2 stained glass windows to be installed in the stair landings of a mansion in Santa Barbara, California. Large sections of the design incorporate pink glass. To make pink glass, gold is used to create the colour and because of this it is 5 or 6 times more expensive than any other colour. The gold pink is mouth blown in Germany and France.
Wright shipped the windows from his studio to the States last weekend.
