New Associate Artist joins Stone Sculptors

Sandra Hayworth

It is with great pleasure we welcome Sandra Hayworth as an Associate to the Stone Sculptors studio.

Sandra’s original studies included Anthropology and Archaeology. Born and raised in Canada, Sandra lived in the Bahamas for much of her later life, and has two sons resident there. She took up oil and pastel painting in the Bahamas, and developed a considerable body of work there.

Sandra’s introduction to sculpting was through life and portraiture sculpture at the Ontario College of Art and Design, and subsequently at the Oakville Art Society. She then began taking courses in soapstone sculpting with us. Her present art practice tends towards using shells as her starting point, abstracting and simplifying forms to bring out the beauty of the stone. At her most whimsical, her “Eggs With Legs” have found a ready audience. You will notice we have included two of her pieces in the Gallery show.

Sandra has been attending courses in Studio 5 for over 4 years. Her skills have developed to a point whereby Associate standing in the studio has been approved.
