Marlene Madole Rises to the Challenge: to paint on location on Doris McCarthy’s 100th Birthday, July 7, 2010

“Below the Surface, Lake Ontario” and “Rattray Marsh to Lake Ontario” were both done in Mississauga on the shores of Lake Ontario during Ontario’s first heat wave of this summer. Lakefront Promenade Park provided the site for the morning painting, and a viewing platform at Rattray Marsh Conservation Area was the site of the afternoon painting.

The Mountain Galleries placed an invitation in the Canadian Art Magazine for artists from across Canada to go outside and paint in celebration of McCarthy’s 100th birthday. The Mountain Galleries will have an on-line exhibition of the results. Twenty works will be chosen for a gallery exhibition this September, and one of the participants will be invite to join their permanent stable of artists.
